Considering it is one of our basic, universal human needs, I think it is very important that we know the truth about what we are eating, where it is coming from, who produced it, who is involved in the system, and what we can do, as eaters of the world's bounty, to help protect the environment and ourselves from the abuse of our resources. If our health is connected in part to what we eat, how we eat, and why we eat, then the sources of our food (the environment), the production, the distribution, and access of our food system should reflect healthy, sustainable and regenerative practices.
I'm interested in learning all about food systems, specifically the food system of America and seeking better alternatives by looking at other cultures or positive deviants who maintain less of a harmful impact on the environment.
I'm here to ask questions and to challenge a system that has become a detriment to life. I'm looking for connections, because the Earth is a synergistic system - everything is connected and linked. The health of the soil our food grows in reflects, in part, the health of our bodies.
Our agricultural methods are not providing for life, quality, and the future - they are providing for profit, quantity, speed and convenience. These methods reflect our values. So what do you value? What is value? What is cost? REAL cost?
I'm writing about food, because I have a love for LIFE. I want to be here, to understand what it means and experience this gift I've been given. I value my health, and your health. We are connected. We are both a part of this world.
As citizens of the world, we must be responsible for our actions, as they affect everyone else. What we don't know, we need to try to understand if we can. To not try is a disgrace to life. Let's use our abilities and find our potential. End the denial, end the laziness, stop the excuses. It's time to figure this out...together.
